De Franse interpunctie heeft haar eigen regels en conventies die soms kunnen verschillen van die in het Engels. Dit artikel gaat in op de belangrijkste aspecten van Franse interpunctie.<\/p>\n

Aanhalingstekens<\/h2>\n

In het Frans zijn aanhalingstekens vaak guillemets (\" \") in plaats van de dubbele aanhalingstekens (\" \") die in het Engels worden gebruikt. Binnen de guillemets staat meestal een spatie voor en na de geciteerde tekst.<\/p>\n

Voorbeeld: \"Bonjour, comment \u00e7a va? \"<\/p>\n

Komma's<\/h2>\n

Het gebruik van komma's in het Frans lijkt op dat in het Engels, maar er zijn enkele verschillen. In het Frans worden komma's gebruikt om elementen in een lijst te scheiden, en ze kunnen ook worden gebruikt om ondergeschikte bijzinnen af te bakenen.<\/p>\n

Voorbeeld: Je mange des pommes, des oranges, et des bananes.<\/p>\n

Perioden<\/h2>\n

Punt in het Frans wordt net als in het Engels gebruikt om het einde van een zin aan te geven. In het Frans wordt de eerste letter na een dubbele punt binnen dezelfde zin echter niet met een hoofdletter geschreven.<\/p>\n

Voorbeeld: Nous avons besoin de trois choses: du pain, du vin et du fromage.<\/p>\n

Puntkomma's<\/h2>\n

Puntkomma's in het Frans worden gebruikt om nauw verwante onafhankelijke clausules aan elkaar te koppelen, vergelijkbaar met het gebruik ervan in het Engels. Ze worden ook vaker gebruikt in het Frans dan in het Engels.<\/p>\n

Voorbeeld: Il fait beau; nous allons nous promener.<\/p>\n

Kolommen<\/h2>\n

Dubbele punten worden gebruikt om lijsten, uitleg of citaten te introduceren. Ze worden gevolgd door een kleine letter als er een lijst of uitleg volgt.<\/p>\n

Voorbeeld: Il y a trois couleurs dans le drapeau fran\u00e7ais: bleu, blanc, et rouge.<\/p>\n

Vraagtekens en uitroeptekens<\/h2>\n

In het Frans worden vraagtekens en uitroeptekens altijd voorafgegaan door een spatie.<\/p>\n

Haakjes<\/h2>\n

Haakjes worden in het Frans en Engels op dezelfde manier gebruikt om aanvullende informatie of terzijdes toe te voegen. De interpunctie buiten de haakjes hangt af van de context van de zin.<\/p>\n

Ellippen in het Frans worden gebruikt om aan te geven dat er iets is weggelaten of dat een zin uitloopt. Ze bestaan uit drie punten op een afstand van elkaar.<\/p>\n

Apostrofs<\/h2>\n

Apostrofs in het Frans worden vooral gebruikt om het weglaten van letters aan te geven, vooral in samentrekkingen. Ze worden ook gebruikt in bezittelijke voornaamwoorden.<\/p>\n

Streepjes in het Frans worden gebruikt om een gedachtewisseling aan te geven of om nadruk te leggen. Ze kunnen ook directe spraak introduceren, vergelijkbaar met aanhalingstekens.<\/p>\n
